The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) was established in terms of Section 2 of the Architectural Profession Act 2000(Act No 44 of 2000). The Architectural Profession Act gives the Council the powers to regulate the profession through the registration of persons eligible for registration; development of rules; policies; standards; and procedures; as well as accreditation of architectural programmes, professional conduct management and the management of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Furthermore, SACAP is mandated to develop the Identification of Work (IDoW) framework for Registered Persons, together with related professional fees guidelines.
